Injectable Fillers Procedure
Injectable fillers are virtually pain free

Currently available injectable fillers may be used to treat depressions, acne scars, wrinkles and in large amounts loss of facial volume. However, they are all temporary with some fillers lasting significantly longer than others. The type of filler that is most appropriate for you can be discussed at your consultation with Dr. Trimas.

Fat Augmentation
Fat injections are most useful for treating large areas of the face that are in need of volume restoration such as the mid facial areas and temples. Usually multiple sessions are required and you must have ample fat available. Estimates of 10 to 15% of fat may persist permanently after each injection session making this treatment a good long term situation for some individuals.

Collagen
Collagen injections are excellent treatments for fine lines of the peri oral (mouth) area. They are also very effective for lip augmentation, however, the results generally last only 6 to 8 weeks in the lips. In the lip cheek groves, results may last 4 to 6 months. Skin testing is required prior to treatment.

Hyaluronic Acid
Injections with Restylane or other hyaluronic acid fillers offer an excellent degree of improvement with effects lasting nearly double those of collagen products. They are useful for augmentation of the lips, treating laugh lines and lip cheek grooves and treating deeper wrinkles. They may also be used in large amounts to restore some facial volume. They do not require skin testing, however, the major disadvantage is that they require the use of a topical anesthetic or nerve block.

Calcium Hydroxylapatite
Injections with Radiesse are effective for treating areas of the face where significant volume needs to be corrected such as deep lip cheek grooves and "marionette" lines. They can also be used to augment the mid face and cheek. The major disadvantage is bruising since a larger needle is required and injections are made below the skin. Results have been seen to last up to 13 months.

Poly-L-Lactic Acid Injectable (Sculptra---Copyright)
This product is useful for restoring volume in areas such as the cheeks, temples, and deep nasolabial folds. Multiple sessions may be required (4-6 weeks part) to achieve the desired results.  Long lasting correction is achieved with these injection that are composed of crushed stitch material that stimulates the body’s own collagen production to maintain improvement.

Aesthetic Injectable Dermal Implant (Artefill—Copyright)
Injections with Artefill are effective permanent correction for nasolabial folds (laugh lines) and labial commisures  (drool grooves).  Skin testing is required.  The procedure often takes two or three sessions 4-6 weeks apart and the improvement lasts many years.  The material is composed of tiny microspheres of an FDA approved product that has been safely used in facial reconstruction for many years.
